Indonesia imposes additional tax on e-cigarettes

Starting from January 1, 2024, Indonesia will impose additional taxes on e-cigarettes.

In 2023, the Indonesian government levied an e-cigarette tax of 1.75 trillion Indonesian rupiah (1 Indonesian rupiah is approximately RMB 0.005), accounting for approximately 1% of the total tobacco consumption tax for the year. According to the Indonesian Ministry of Finance, more than 50% of tobacco tax revenue is used for public health services and law enforcement.
