Russia sets minimum price for cigarettes in 2024, slightly up 10 rubles from last year

According to Rbcfreenews, starting from January 1, 2024, Russia will set the minimum price of a pack of cigarettes at 129 rubles (approximately US$1.41). This price is calculated by the Russian Ministry of Agriculture and will remain in effect until 2024. End of year.

In 2023, the minimum price per pack of cigarettes will be 119 rubles (approximately $1.30), while in 2022 it will be 112 rubles (approximately $1.22).

On September 1, 2023, the Russian Law on Comprehensive Supervision of the Tobacco Market came into effect. In developing the law, Russia looked to the country's existing system of state regulation of the alcohol market. The tobacco regulatory law requires manufacturers and suppliers to license their activities, label their products and ensure that their production facilities comply with all regulations; in addition, they must use an "honest labeling" system to regulate the market.

This tobacco regulatory law applies to all tobacco products, including e-cigarettes.
