According to the Belarusian news agency reform, the Latvian parliament has passed a bill stipulating that teenagers under the age of 20 are not allowed to smoke, buy or sell tobacco products. The restriction will also apply to tobacco alternatives, herbal-based smoking products, electronic smoking devices and refill containers. The ban will be implemented from January 1, 2025.
Latvia currently allows the sale of tobacco products to persons over 18 years of age.
Amendments to the law also ban the sale of e-cigarettes and tobacco substitutes containing flavors other than tobacco flavours, with these restrictions also set to come into effect on January 1, 2025.
