Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan and other countries increase tobacco taxes

Recently, Sri Lanka has raised tobacco excise tax and value-added tax. The country's Ceylon Tobacco Company has increased the single prices of its four cigarettes by 5, 15, 20, and 25 Sri Lankan rupees (1 Sri Lankan rupee is approximately RMB 0.02).

Azerbaijan has increased the excise tax on cigarettes from 38 Azerbaijani manats (1 Azerbaijani manat is approximately RMB 4.18) to 45.5 Azerbaijani manats per 1,000 sticks, and on cigarillos from 43 Azerbaijani manats per 1,000 sticks to 45.5 Azerbaijani manats. Specially, the excise tax on e-cigarettes and heated cigarettes was increased from 14 Azerbaijani manats to 16 Azerbaijani manats per 1,000 sticks.

Belgium imposes a consumption tax of 0.15 euros (1 euro is approximately RMB 7.85) per milliliter of e-cigarette liquid.
