Zimbabwean tobacco farmers have planted 55,170 hectares of tobacco leaves

According to the "Sunday Mail" report, Zimbabwean tobacco farmers have planted 55,170 hectares of tobacco leaves in the 2023-2024 planting season.

According to the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB), the country's tobacco farmers planted 57,411 hectares of tobacco leaves in 2022.

Tobacco planted in 2023 includes 19,202 hectares of irrigated tobacco and 35,968 hectares of dryland tobacco. Meanwhile, 112,447 growers have registered with TIMB.

Zimbabwean tobacco farmers delivered nearly 300 million kilograms of tobacco leaves in 2023, which are currently being processed, sorted and exported. As of November 2023, the country has exported more than 210 million kilograms of tobacco leaves worth more than $1 billion.
